Avos News Letter 2013

Our round up of last years jet ski season at the leisure lakes, plus all the latest developments and events for this years season.  Read about our Jobe Fusion of Fun 2013 Day, the Freestyle National Tour will be back once again this year, plus all the other events that will be coming to Avos Liesure Lakes Jet Ski centre.

Well Boys and Girls it's that time of year again.

Well what can be said about last season? Pretty naff weather all round really so as I was taught that if I had nothing good to say then to say nothing at all. So what’s going on this year then...?
This year we are starting off with a BANG.  With Easter being the last week in March we are having a SALE yes you heard me right a SALE.

We have set up the downstairs back showroom with all our 2012 stock from wetsuits and buoyancy aids to wakeboards and waterskis.

With 30% off full wetsuits and 50% to 60% off shorties and 20% to 40% off waterskis and wakeboards from our 2012 ranges as we now have all the 2013 stock on display and are in need of the space.  This sale will end on 1st April 2013.

As an added bonus, anybody who sign’s up for this year’s lake use and pays for it before the 1st April will get a 10% off voucher for use on any 2013 accessory, part or service for use before the end of August 2013. Yes we know its short notice but the fee’s are due the same time every year and we need them now so we can crack on and get the lake sorted for this season. We still have beaches to prepare and landscaping to be done and for this we need your lake fee’s now!

This year’s round of the JSRA (Jet Sport Racing Association) is on the 13th & 14th July, this is one of the British Championship Jet Ski Racing rounds with the country’s best of the best going head to head to compete for the British Championship Title and a place in the European and World Finals. This is going to be a spectacle not to be missed.  It will mean that the lake will be closed for the weekend as 60 to 100 of the country’s best charge around the lake at flat out speed.  This will be a massive event and watching from the side lines will be a spectacle in its self.

If you did not know already then we have a fantastic group of jet skiers interacting on Face Book. “Avos Watersports Den” is what you need to search for it is an open group anybody can join.  This is where we announce all of our last minute jaunts and jolly's.  There is also a lot of friendly banter with free competitions and a gallery of the antics we all get up to on our waterborne adventures.  Also check out www.jetskilake.co.uk it complements our already popular shop website www.avoswatersportsden.co.uk the Jet Ski Lake site is more of an information site with a lot of new industry news from all the watercraft manufacturers and some land based activities to.

Yet again another convoy of Skis down the A55 is a fantastic way to start a Friday morning on our Annual Anglesey outing!  The date was 5th of October, the Venue was Traeth Bychan Bay (the next beach up from Benllech Bay) and this all makes for a fantastic day out and yet again the sun shone on us for most of the day.  We had a long trip out to the ships that were moored a few miles off shore in quite a rough sea with lots of photo op’s (check out our face book page) then down round Puffin Island for a little seal spotting and back to the beach for a play around the bay.
After a quick search for some stragglers who liked it so much they stayed the night on Red Wharf Bay beach for a bit of moonlight skiing (sorry Mr K just could not help myself).
This year’s trip will be on Friday 4th October meeting either at the lake at 8:30am and driving down in convoy or just hit Traeth Bychan Bay on Anglesey around 10:30am and we will see you there.

The Jobe Sports “Fusion of Fun Tour” is back by demand and this year will be on Saturday 27th April, where Joe from Jobe Sports Europe (one of Europe’s largest producers of Watersports Toys) will be bringing the Jobe inflatable toys for everyone to try, along with Wake Boards, Kneeboards and Water Skis. So if you’re thinking of a new inflatable for this year or trying something more adventurous like wakeboarding or water skiing then this is your chance to get out there and try the kit out.

If you are thinking of an upgrade for this year then take advantage of Yamaha’s low rate finance with a 20% deposit and rates of 1.99% over 2 years, 2.99% over 3 years and 3.99% over 4 years flat rate Terms & conditions apply. This is only available until 31st March so you will have to be quick to grab one before the offer ends. Yamaha UK have held the prices on most of the Wave Runner range for the 2013 season so there is no excuse to get the new ski you have always dreamed of.

Any other events, days out, BBQ’s, etc that we will be having we will keep you informed throughout the season via FaceBook (so don't forget to look us up) and on the notice board in the shop.

The implementation of the Owner/Insurer having to be RYA PWC trained from the 1st April 2010 has made the lake a joy to be on and around.  We have a much nicer family based membership now having got rid of most of the idiots.  If you have not yet done your RYA course, then you need to get yourself booked on a course now!   As craft become quicker and more responsive each year we are trying to make sure that our lake is still one of the safest in the country.  It will also entitle you to some discount off your annual insurance (and we all like to save money)!

I have enclosed a set of lake rules and a Yearly Lake Membership form for you to fill in and bring with you the first time you use the lake again on or after the 1st April 2013.  If you would like to renew a Yearly Membership then you can send payment before the 1st of April to secure your place for the 2013/14 season.  You will also need to bring your insurance details and your RYA certificate with you for us to update your file.

The WebCam has been working a treat, log onto our site www.avoswatersportsden.co.uk and look at the tabs on the top of the page you will see WebCam.  This is updated every 30 seconds so you can have a look how busy or quiet the lake is and what the weather is doing down here in our own mini tropical oasis (haha).

Congratulations to young Jonathan Kavanagh who took the bull by the horns last season and won the FNT (Freestyle National Tour) and British Freestyle Championship which won him a place in the world finals in Lake Havasu City America. After a long trip out there and seizing his engine just before the competition began he managed a sterling 7th place in his category on a borrowed ski (not bad at all in my view, especially on borrowed kit to come 7th in the world in his category).  Jonathan will be competing again this year on his new KDX900 flying Yellow and Blue colours so watch out for him down at the lake doing his thing this year and good luck for the season ahead.

As always please help us to help you!  If you see anybody on or around the lake that you think is being dangerous or doing wrong then please let a member of the team know so that we can deal with it.  The lake and surrounding beaches are for Jet Ski users and we want it to be a pleasure to be around, so please don’t feel awkward letting us know if somebody is being dangerous.
Well let’s say our prayers to the weather gods and hope for a great sunny year with lots of fun days out doing what we all love so much.

So here’s looking to a great 2013/14 Season.
